EventPlanna Limited ("EventPlanna", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you access or use the EventPlanna platform (the "Platform").

EventPlanna Limited is a company incorporated in Nigeria under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, with CAC Registration No. 9430128, and headquartered in Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.

This Privacy Policy is drafted in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information when you use the Platform:

2.1 Personal Information

Information you provide when creating an account or using the Platform, including your name, email address, phone number, and business name.

2.2 Event Data

Information related to events you create or manage on the Platform, including event details, timelines, budgets, and guest lists.

2.3 Vendor Data

If you register as a vendor, we collect your business profile information, service offerings, portfolio content, and reviews.

2.4 Payment Data

We collect transaction records such as purchase amounts, credit package details, and payment status. We do NOT collect or store your credit/debit card numbers, CVV, PIN, or bank login credentials — all payment processing is handled by Paystack (see Section 4).

2.5 Usage Data

Information about how you interact with the Platform, including features used, pages visited, actions taken, device information, browser type, operating system, and IP address.

2.6 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing activity on the Platform. For more details, see Section 11 (Cookies Policy).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Provide and maintain the Platform — To operate, deliver, and improve the core features and services of EventPlanna.
  • Process credit purchases — To facilitate and record credit transactions on the Platform.
  • Match vendors with event planners — To power our marketplace and connect event planners with relevant vendors based on event needs.
  • Improve and personalise the experience — To understand usage patterns and tailor the Platform to better serve your needs.
  • AI training and improvement — We use anonymized and aggregated data — including event data, vendor interaction patterns, and usage data — to train and improve our AI-powered features such as vendor matching, budget optimization, and event planning automation. This data is stripped of personally identifiable information before processing.
  • Send service-related communications — To send you important updates, notifications, and transactional messages related to your account and use of the Platform.
  • Prevent fraud and ensure security — To detect, prevent, and address fraudulent activity, security threats, and technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations — To meet our obligations under applicable Nigerian laws and regulations.

4. Payment Data & Paystack

All payment processing is handled by Paystack, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

EventPlanna does NOT store, process, or have access to your credit/debit card numbers, CVV, PIN, or bank login credentials.

We only receive transaction confirmation data (amount, status, reference) from Paystack.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

EventPlanna does NOT sell your personal data to any third party. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Payment processing (Paystack) — Limited transaction data is shared with Paystack to process credit purchases securely.
  • Cloud hosting providers — Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by trusted hosting providers, under strict data protection agreements.
  • Analytics tools — We use analytics services to understand how the Platform is used and to improve our services.
  • Vendor marketplace — Vendor profiles, including business names, service descriptions, portfolio content, and reviews, are visible to event planners on the marketplace.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose your information if required to do so by Nigerian law, regulation, or court order, or in response to a valid legal request from a government authority.

6. Data Storage & Security

EventPlanna implements industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Encryption in transit — All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL protocols.
  • Encryption at rest — Stored data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption.
  • Secure cloud infrastructure — Your data is stored on secure cloud servers with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards.
  • Access controls — Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
  • Regular security audits — We conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to maintaining the highest practicable standards.

7. Your Rights Under NDPR/NDPA

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access — You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — You have the right to request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to deletion — You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data, subject to certain exceptions where we are required by law to retain information (such as tax and financial records).
  • Right to data portability — You have the right to request your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent — Where processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  • Right to object to processing — You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances, including processing for direct marketing purposes.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • Active accounts — Your personal data is retained for as long as your account remains active and you continue to use the Platform.
  • Deleted accounts — Upon account deletion, your personal data will be removed from our systems within 90 days. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot be traced back to you may be retained for analytical and improvement purposes.
  • Transaction records — Financial and transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years in compliance with Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
  • AI training data — Data used for AI training is permanently anonymized and cannot be traced back to individual users. This anonymized data may be retained indefinitely.

9. Children's Privacy

The EventPlanna platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under 18, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@eventplanna.com.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data is primarily stored on servers located in Nigeria and Africa. However, in certain circumstances, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of Nigeria for purposes such as cloud hosting, analytics, or payment processing.

Where international data transfers occur, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with the NDPR and NDPA, including contractual protections, to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection regardless of where it is processed.

11. Cookies Policy

EventPlanna uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience on the Platform. The types of cookies we use include:

  • Essential cookies — These cookies are necessary for the Platform to function properly, including authentication, session management, and security features.
  • Analytics cookies — These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Platform, which pages are visited most frequently, and how we can improve the user experience.

You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Please note that disabling essential cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform.

12. Changes to This Policy

EventPlanna reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending you an email or displaying a notification on the Platform.

Your continued use of the Platform after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
